IMPORTANT!: This is a completely fictional Livejournal for a completely fictional character I play in a Scion roleplaying game (Scion is published by White Wolf Publishing). The contents of this journal reflect events that have occured in my gaming group's campaign. Having made that disclaimer, it's time to get "in character" as actors say!

Hiya. My name's Erika Lacey, and welcome to my Livejournal. I'm DJ Yomi, a world-famous DJ and musician from Boston's gothic-industrial scene. Am I a goth? You bet. I've been called a cybergoth, a rivethead (though I don't look the part for that one) and a perky goth...and all are pretty accurate, depending on when you catch me. I range pretty far and wide with my musical tastes too, so I'm not stuck in an goth/industrial/EBM rut all the time. I also produce and play trance music. An odd combination? Maybe, but not as odd as you'd think.

There's more to me than that, though. I probably shouldn't talk about the things I'm going to talk about in this journal, but who believes what they read on the internet anyway? I can go on all I want about the crazy supernatural stuff I deal with on a regular basis and the only people who would believe it are the same people that believe those supermarket tabloids about Bat Boy and trailer park aliens. So here goes.

You see, I'm the daughter of a goddess. There are quite a few children of the gods out there, you know, and I'm one of them. In fact, I'm well on my way to godhood, and I have the divine powers to prove it. I can talk to the dead and other spirits, create light from thin air, heal people, go for months without sleeping or eating - you know, stuff like that. My mother is Izanami, the Shinto kami who now rules Yomi, the Japanese Underworld (see where my DJ name came from?), so I've got death and darkness in by blood. But I'm also pretty bright and creative since I reflect my mother's creative side, the side of her that existed before she died and became the goddes of the Underworld. I represent the part of her that helped create the Japanese islands and gave birth to so many of the other kami.

That's why I'm so into my music, which has been described as goth-techno-industrial with a little darkwave on the side and some more uplifitng trance themes thrown in for balance. Weird? Yeah, but it's popular.

Anyway, even though Izanami is my mother, my half-sister Amaterasu (the Shinto kami of the sun and Izanami's most prominent daughter) has always looked out for me too, mostly through one of her priests, a guy named Masayori Fukuda.

I can't forget my mother though, and I've been trying to reconnect with her ever since the first and only time I met her. She opened my eyes to a bigger, darker, and more fascinating world, and I believe she did so for a reason. And so in an attempt to find and meet her again, I've gotten involved all sorts of weird, creepy stuff. And you know what? I'm eating it up.

Before I finish up, I should also mention the group of five girls who follow me around all the time like groupies. They're not just my best friends, they're also sort like my servants. My mother asked them to serve me as followers when she awakened me to my dark divinity. They're like friends and bodyguards rolled into one. And they're all youkai - Japanese supernatural creatures.

First, there's Keiko and Sera. They are nopperabo, faceless women. Most of the time they have faces just like anyone else, but when they want to, they can make their faces look as they REALLY are - blank, smooth, and featureless. It's A LOT scarier than you'd think. Anyway, they're both goths too, but they're more like "professional" goths than the rest of us.

The other three are all rokurokubi. They seem pretty normal, but they can stretch their necks out like snakes, which might seem silly until you've actually SEEN it happen and realize how creepy it is. Their names are Quinn, Kimiyo, and Dahlia, and all three are hardcore cybergoths. Quinn is cynical and acerbic and is more or less the leader of the cadre. Kimiyo is quiet and reserved, shy enough that she often wears a gasmask to hide her features. And Dahlia is a freak - half cybergoth, half fetish goth. She means well, though.

And I should also mention the love of my life, Echo. She's an oread. You know, a mountain nymph from Greek mythology. And yes, she is THE Echo, the one from the myths. I love her to death, and together, along with other children of the gods, we're spreading the legend of our existence and helping to keep the titans from destroying the world.

Anyway that's me: light and darkness all rolled up into one hot bundle.
